PONTE VITTORIO DAM, CAMANDONA (BI)

The modernisation of Italy

Separator

The 33-metre high dam was built to create a reservoir and a pipeline to control the supply of water to industries further downstream on the Strona di Mosso torrent. The water is used to operate machinery and to process wool (washing, dying). To overcome the problem of having to transport the necessary building materials up to the lake, the company installed complex and extremely modern machinery at the site in order to fully exploit the material blasted out from the rock. The hollow gravity type dam has a crest length of 136 metres and a maximum height of 45 metres.
