In 1967 Recchi won the international contract to build the motorway link between the Ecuadorian cities of Guayaquil, the country's commercial hub, and Duran, by constructing a bridge at the confluence of the Daule and Babahoyo Rivers with Rio Guayas. The project, designed by Riccardo Morandi, consisted of a dual carriageway motorway with bike lanes and footpaths in addition to the construction of two bridges with 39 prestressed reinforced concrete spans and piles driven to a depth of 40 metres.
