THE VIADUCTS ON THE TURIN-SAVONA MOTORWAY

The modernisation of Italy

Separator

The company constructed a three-lane section of the motorway between Ceva and Savona, the Colle di Cadibona pass, which runs between the Alps and the Apennines. The new section, covering some 6 km, included twelve tunnels and sixteen viaducts in reinforced concrete, mostly curved, with spans of between 10 and 28 metres and piers up to 55 metres high. Between 1963 and 1965 the company also worked on a 2,370-metre section between Fossano and Ceva, building two prestressed reinforced concrete viaducts with spans of up to 70 metres and a twin tunnel with two carriageways for a total length of 940 metres.
